Wireless Internet (Antenna on Roof). will this Lag Gaming?

I currently have satellite Internet and i absolutly hate it. It sucks for gaming. And after doing tons of research i found out that the only other ISP provider in my area only offers Wireless internet. They come in and set up an antenna. I hear the latency with wireless internet is less compared to satellite. Now they over charge by a bunch so my only possible speeds i can afford are 256K down and 128K up. I dont plan on Hosting games but i do plan on playing in rooms with max 30 other people. Is this type of internet service good??? how bad is the latency from wireless internet compared to Wired???

Latency on wireless ISP will be much less.
Distance is much shorter compared to GeoSynchronous Satellite.
